IET and IMechE accreditation at the end of the program helps meet the educational requirements of an accredited engineer when presented with an accredited MSc.
The globally recognized quality accreditations from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) offered to the BEng (Hons) mechanical engineering programs at De Montfort University (DMU) in Dubai, complete their industry preparation training.
Graduates will obtain these dual accreditations to progress towards professional registration as a Chartered Engineer and also to give them an edge in this highly competitive job market.
Dr Fuad Khoshnaw, Head of Science, Engineering and Computing (SEC) Portfolio at DMU Dubai, said: “The KHDA-approved DMU – Dubai campus mechanical engineering program will help students to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a professional engineer. . Mechanical engineering is vital to all aspects of our daily life, integrating the design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of almost any product that has moving parts. These can range from substantial structures such as power plants, oil rigs or jet engines, up to a single valve.
A great advantage of our BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering program is that it is fully aligned with the quality standards set by IMechE and IET accreditation and that is why when you successfully complete the modules you will be eligible for the award of dual accreditation from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This meets the educational requirements of a licensed engineer when presented with an accredited MSc.
The program offers specialized facilities such as dynamics and control laboratories, mechanics and materials laboratories, an engine test cell, and Rohde and Schwarz embedded systems laboratories that simulate an industrial environment. Special modules such as solid mechanics and finite element analysis that meet comprehensive requirements for the design and simulation of different essential components in different industries that deal with mechanical and thermomechanical stress, fluids and thermodynamics.
Students can also join DMU Racing and participate in Formula Student, an annual initiative run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers that challenges universities around the world to design, build and drive a single-seater racing car.
The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Degree is tailored to the UAE market, which is driven by the industrial sector. The program has been organized to cover the industrial needs of manufacturing, implementation and maintenance of various mechanical components, food industry, oil and gas and aerospace applications. Graduates also have the opportunity for careers in a variety of fields including aerospace, automotive, defense and energy, as well as work in the product manufacturing and food and beverage industries.
BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering is one of the many programs offered by DMU Dubai, the arm of the award winning DMU Leicester. Other programs to be introduced this year include BA (Hons) Fashion Communication & Styling, BA (Hons) Interior Design, B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) Business and Management, BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, Law LLB (Hons), BSc (Hons) Cyber Security and the MBA (Global).
Students of DMU Dubai will also be offered the opportunity to transfer their studies to the UK campus at any time of the academic year to experience the diversity and exceptional international support of DMU Works.
