Laing O’Rourke has several exciting opportunities for site engineers to join this project. Entering a key delivery phase, this recruitment campaign offers a stable permanent position. The Site Engineer will safely and efficiently manage a set of tasks and be technically responsible for the outcome. Reporting directly to the Section Engineer, available roles will potentially include managing and supervising technicians or engineering students on site. Many of our projects use self-delivery. This means less reliance on sub-contractors and the use of our own workforce and engineering professionals. This includes digital engineering (BIM), offsite manufacturing (DFMA), factory, design, and many other internal functions.
Type of sectors: Mixed use, education, shopping center construction projects, nuclear, water treatment, modular bridges and railway sectors.
Scope of work: Excavation, reinforced concrete piles and frames, precast installation, in situ works, temporary works, quality assurance, design process and more are part of the job of a site engineer at Laing O’Rourke.
Missions of the site engineer:
- Implementation, understanding of the limits of equipment and methods
- Interpret information as constructed
- Provides guidance to less experienced staff
- Completes quality assurance documentation and record keeping
- Implements ITP requirements
- Producing method statements or understanding how they are produced
- Understand temporary works and, where applicable, take on the role of a TWS/TWC (temporary works coordinator) – You do not need to be a certified TWC
- Understanding of materials and plant including call schedules
- Know the site’s HS&E procedures
- Understand the responsibility and role of the design team, including BIM
- Interaction with business teams to understand project results
- Work with planning and quality teams
- Ability to work with teams on the different systems used
